 Take the Challenge!
The Newbery Club is a program started in 2006 to challenge its
members to read all the books that have been awarded the John Newbery
medal. The Newbery medal was first awarded in 1922 and a book has
been added each year since. The sooner you join, the easier it is
to finish!
The John Newbery medal is awarded each year by the American
Library Association. To find out more about the medal, including
a list of winners, visit the ALA web site.

Participants in the Newbery Club may, of course, read the books in any order they prefer. But for those who would like a little more camaraderie, the library also sponsors a Newbery book group! Members of this exclusive group periodically read a selected book. On the appointed day, a grand event is held at the library to collectively enjoy the accomplishment of having read the book, to discuss the book with the other members of the group, to partake of tastey snacks, and, if you are particularly lucky, win a fabulous prize.
All the monthly book selections and many of the dates have been set for all of 2007. If you would like to participate, just read the selected book before the meeting date, show up at the meeting, and ejnoy!
All meetings are held in the library meeting room starting at 7:00 PM
